Granting permissions to manage teams

Required Tempo product: Tempo Timesheets for Cloud or Tempo Planner for Cloud

Required permission:Tempo Administrator

Tempo Team Administrators permission

This permission is given to selected JIRA groups. With it users get by default:

  • Permission to create, configure and delete teams. Users can also manage team permissions.
  • Browse Team permission (see below) for all teams.
  • Plan Time permission (see below) in Tempo Planner for Cloud for all teams.
  • Permission to create, configure, browse and delete programs.

Tempo Team Administrators can grant themselves Approve Timesheets permission (see below) in Tempo Timesheets for Cloud. This permission is not sufficient for moving users between different types of workload or holiday schemes.

To grant the Tempo Team Administration permission:

  1. Click the Gear Icon
  2. Select System
  3. On the left menu bar, locate the Security section, and select Global permissions.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, under Add Permission, select Tempo Team Administrator and the JIRA group you want to grant the permission to.
  5. Click Add to save.

Required permission: JIRA Administrators

Team Lead permission

This permission is given to individual users. With it users get by default:

This permission is not sufficient for moving users between different types of workload or holiday schemes, or for changing the Team Lead.

To grant the Team Lead permission:

  1. On the main menu bar, select Tempo > Teams. You can also click on the Teams icon on the black menu bar to the left, under the Tempo logo.
  2. In the Teams screen, under Lead, add users you want to grant the permission to.

 

 

 

Required Tempo product: Tempo Timesheets for Cloud or Tempo Planner for Cloud

Required permission: JIRA Administrators 

Program Manager permission

A program is a group of teams that are associated with the same JIRA project or the same JIRA Agile board. This permission is given to individual users. With it users get by default:

  • A high-level overview of the capacity and progress of the teans in a program.
  • The ability to plan epics and product releases for the teams.

To create a program or to plan iterations for teams from program level, Tempo Team Administrators permission is required. 

To grant the Program Manager permission:

  1. On the main menu bar, select Tempo > Teams. You can also click on the Teams icon on the Tempo Sidebar to the left.
  2. In the Teams screen, in the upper right side, click Programs.
  3. In the Teams screen, under Manager add users you want to grant the permission to.

 

 

Required Tempo product: Tempo Timesheets for Cloud or Tempo Planner for Cloud

Required permission: JIRA Administrators or Team Tempo Administrators or Team Leads 

Browse Team permission

This permission is given to selected JIRA groups and individual users. With it users get by default permission to:

  • See the team's information, including the team utilization report.
  • See planned time for each member of the team in Tempo Planner for Cloud.
  • See the team in the program that contains it.

All Team Members automatically receive Browse Team permission for their own teams.

To grant the Browse Team permission:

  1. On the main menu bar, select Tempo > Teams. You can also click on the Teams icon on the Tempo Sidebar to the left.
  2. In the Teams screen, choose a team and click Permissions.
  3. In Browse Team, add users and/or Jira groups you want to grant the permission to.

 

 

Required Tempo product: Tempo Timesheets for Cloud

Required permission: JIRA Administrators or Team Tempo Administrators or Team Leads

Approve Timesheets permission

This permission is given to selected JIRA groups and individual users. With it users get by default permission to:

  • View the user timesheet for team members.
  • View the team timesheet (including the sum of all worklogs logged by team members)
  • Approve timesheets for team members.

This permission is also used in account gadgets and to approve accounts timesheets.

To grant the Approve Timesheets permission:

  1. On the main menu bar, select Tempo > Teams. You can also click on the Teams icon on the Tempo Sidebar to the left.
  2. In the Teams screen, choose a team and click Permissions.
  3. In Approve Timesheet, add users and/or Jira groups you want to grant the permission to.

 

 

Required Tempo product: Tempo Planner for Cloud

Required permission: JIRA Administrators or Team Tempo Administrators or Team Leads

Plan Time permission

This permission is given to selected JIRA groups and individual users. With it users get by default permission to:

  • Plan time for team members to work on projects, project versions, project components and issues.
  • If JIRA software or JIRA Agile is installed,  plan time for team members to work on sprint.
  • Plan time on projects.
  • Plan work on the team backlog.

Tempo Team Administrators automatically receive Plan Time permission for all teams. Team Leads automatically receive Plan Time permission for their own teams.

To grant the Plan Time permission:

  1. On the main menu bar, select Tempo > Teams. You can also click on the Teams icon on the Tempo Sidebar to the left.
  2. In the Teams screen, choose a team and click Permissions.
  3. In Plan Time, add users and/or Jira groups you want to grant the permission to.

 

Note 1: If your version of Tempo Timesheets for Cloud does not include the Tempo Sidebar, see the Tempo Timesheets 7.20 cloud documentation instead.

Note 2: If your version of Tempo Planner for Cloud does not include the Tempo Sidebar, see the Tempo Planner 4.0 server documentation instead; all of the Tempo Planner 4.0 server documentation applies to your version, except information about a resource overview and importing and exporting of plans.
