Logging work using Slack

Required Tempo product: Tempo Timesheets for Cloud

Note: if your version of Tempo Timesheets for Cloud does not include the Tempo sidebar, Tempo for Slack is not available to you.

Tempo for Slack lets you log work on a JIRA issue without leaving your collaboration space, making it easy to stay up-to-date with your time-tracking. Simply message the Tempo bot that you want to log work, choose an issue from the drop-down (or enter an issue key in the search box) and you can enter your time right then and there.

To log work from Slack:

  1. Select the Tempo bot user and type 'log work' in the message box. Of course, since Tempo is a Slack bot, you can just type 'hey Tempo!' and it will offer you a choice of actions. In this case, click Log work.

  2. From the Issue drop-down, select a recent issue or type the issue key in the search box. The issue description and status is displayed.
  3. Click Log work and enter the amount of time worked (using <x>h <x>m format, for example, 2h 15m), then enter a brief description of the work done.
  4. Click Submit.
