Linking projects to accounts

Required permission: Tempo Account Administrator or Tempo Account Lead

In Tempo, you can use accounts to track hours associated with a specific project by linking an account to that project. You can link an account to one or more projects immediately when you create an account, or you can link to a project at any time from the account's details screen.

To link a project to an account from the :

  1. Select Tempo > Accounts or click the Accounts icon on the Tempo sidebar to the left.
  2. Click the account name.
  3. Click Add Project.
  4. Select the project you want to link to the account.

Note: Your Tempo Administrator needs to include the Account custom field in any issues whose worklogs you want to associate with an account. The instructions to do this are here.

Setting a default account for a project

If you want to set a default account for your project:

  1. Select Project > (your project).
  2. On the left sidebar, select Project settings.
  3. On the Project settings page, select Accounts from the sidebar.
  4. Under the list of linked Accounts, select the account you want to make default and click Set Default.

Making accounts global

Instead of linking specific projects, you can also make an account global. By making an account global it is linked to all projects.

To make an account global:

  1. Select Tempo > Accounts or click the Accounts icon on the Tempo sidebar to the left.
  2. Click the account name.
  3. Click the checkbox marked "Make this account global". 

Warning: Global accounts are linked to all JIRA projects. Since global accounts are known to impact system performance, we recommend they be kept to a minimum.
