Linking projects to accounts

Required Tempo product: Tempo Timesheets for Cloud

Required permission: Tempo Account Administrator or Tempo Account Lead

In Tempo, you can use accounts to track hours associated with a specific project. Before you can track account hours, you must link the project to the account.

To link a project to an account, complete the following steps:

  1. On the main menu bar, select Tempo > Accounts. You can also click on the Accounts icon on the Tempo Sidebar to the left.
  2. Click the account name.
  3. Click Add Project.
  4. Select the project you want to link to the account.

Note: Your Tempo Administrator needs to include the Account custom field in any issues whose worklogs you want to associate with an account. The instructions to do this are here.

Setting a default account for a project

If you want to set a default account for your project:

  1. On the main menu bar, select Project > (your project).
  2. On the left sidebar, select Project Settings.
  3. On the central sidebar, select Accounts.
  4. Under the list of linked Accounts, select the account you wish to make default and click Set Default.

Making accounts global

Instead of linking a specific project, you can also make an account global. By making an account global it is linked to all projects.

To make an account global, complete the following steps:

  1. On the main menu bar, select Tempo > Accounts. You can also click on the Accounts icon on the Tempo Sidebar to the left.
  2. Click the account name.
  3. Click the checkbox marked Make this account global. By making an account global it is linked to all projects.

Warning: Global accounts are linked to all JIRA projects. Since global accounts are known to impact system performance, we recommend they be kept to a minimum.
