Tempo Timesheets - New Features and Improvements

  • Tempo has created a new Tempo My Work gadget that allows users to see their daily schedule at a glance. They can choose to display both planned time and worked time and see progress. Users can navigate forwards or backwards, one day at a time.
  • We have made improvements on filtering data in Tempo custom reports. This reduces wait time when there is a lot of data to be processed.
  • You can now add a Required Hours column to Tempo reports that shows hours required based on the user's workload scheme. This option is available when grouping by users.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

Tempo Timesheets - New Features and Improvements

  • New Teams permissions give you the flexibility you need to control who can view and manage personal data, and ensure external stakeholders have the level of access they need to get their job done.

    Learn more about the Teams permissions here.

  • You can now choose any day of the week when you opt to configure the start day of the work-week from Settings > Period Configuration. The default start-day is Sunday.
  • The new Settings > UI Preferences lets you configure whether to show Sunday or Monday as the start day of the week in the date-picker. 
  • If weekly approvals are enabled, you can now quickly switch between monthly and weekly periods from the date-picker in Reports.

Tempo Timesheets - Beta App: Quickbooks Online

  • Tempo is releasing a tested beta version of Tempo for QuickBooks Online for customers interested in streamlining their QuickBooks Online payroll. We welcome your feedback and requests.
    • Requires Tempo administrator permissions and QuickBooks Online credentials to authenticate.
    • When timesheets are approved in Tempo, hours logged against issues are dynamically sent to Weekly Timesheets in QuickBooks Online.
    • Allows you to import QuickBooks customers to Tempo, and link them to billable and non-billable accounts. Customers created in Tempo are automatically created in QuickBooks online.
    • If you uninstall Tempo Timesheets, the app is also uninstalled. Tempo stores the data so that when you reinstall Tempo Timesheets, you can resume syncing worklog data.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • An issue where worklogs created in Jira and subsequently edited in Tempo were not correctly synched and updated in Jira has been fixed.
  • An issue where creating and/or linking an account to a project using the Tempo REST APIs has been fixed. The linked account is now displayed in the Account Issue field.

  • New options supporting GDPR compliance are now available:
    • Customers affected by the GDPR can now configure the length of time for storage of Tempo worklogs and plans. This eases the implementation of retention policies in line with this legislation.

  • An issue where the options in the Accounts overview "Projects" dropdown were not displayed in alphabetical order has been fixed.

Tempo Planner - Fixes

  • An issue in the Capacity report where only whole hours were recorded has been fixed. When planning tasks, meetings or work items of less than one hour, or that include a fractional value, the Capacity report now calculates totals correctly.
  • A issue when a user is trying to create a plan for him/herself using "Project" as the "Plan item type" was timing out without creating the plan has been fixed.

Tempo Planner  - New Features

  • Start times can now be specified when planning work using the Plan Work dialog in My Work or from the Issue view, and from the Create Plan sidebar accessed from Tempo Planner.
    • Your Tempo administrator can configure if start and end time is available when planning work. It is enabled by default.

  • Fixed an issue where existing worklogs were temporarily hidden when a new log work action was cancelled in the Calendar view.
  • Occasional errors where the View Plan link from Tempo emails did not link to the correct plan have been fixed.

Tempo Planner & Tempo Timesheets  - New Planning Features and Improvements

  • User plans are now stored in fixed hours-per-day instead of as a percentage of their workload. This allows for differing workload schemes or changes to workload schemes without affecting the number of hour-per-day already planned. Team plans continue to use a percentage of workload capacity.
  • When planning on the Team Timeline, the Create Plan dialog will suggest the number of hours per day based on the total plan size. If your planned period extends over non-working days, you are given the option to include them as working days when required.
  • We've introduced a new Plan Work dialog:
    • As an individual user, you can now quickly plan for a given period in My Work, or plan on an issue from the Plans section. You can plan on an hours-per-day basis, or specify a total number of hours for the period. You can also opt to include non-working days.
    • When deleting planned work in a period, you can choose to delete whole plan or the plan for the selected day.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • Bulk Add Members from a Jira group is now correctly adding members to the selected team.
  • When users edit a worklog description, added text no longer disappears.
  • When you submit a worklog where the period option is selected, and the number of hours billed differs from the number of hours worked, an error is no longer returned.
  • The worklog distribution gadget now correctly displays all projects with worklogs.

  • All emails that are sent from Tempo have been redesigned to focus on the action required, and to deliver key information at a glance.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • Fixed - An error was preventing content from being properly parsed to XML when exporting worklogs using the servlet on some environments. This could cause inconsistency in data in some cases. Add-on users and system administration users are no longer visible in the Resource Overview.
  • Fixed - To ensure accurate reporting and data transparency, users with the Approve Timesheets permission can no longer approve their own timesheets.
  • Fixed - Tempo Worklogs section in the Jira issue view no longer displays the previously selected period when the page is reloaded. The current period is displayed.
  • Fixed - Slow response time when typing in a new Log Work form in the My Work Calendar (Time view) when there were a significant number of worklogs.

Tempo Planner - New Features and Improvements

  • We have added a Resource Overview page to Tempo Planner. Simply click the Overview button located at the right in the Teams and Programs header. Click here to learn more.
  • We have changed the editing of plans within the Team Timeline. Going forward, Team plans cannot be changed to User plans and user plans cannot be changed to team plans.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • Fixed a problem that was causing a Nullpointer exception to occur when searching for an issue while filtering by Team and any project.
  • Fixed a problem where the long words in the worklog calendar view description were wrapping into multiple lines in Firefox.
  • Fixed a problem where the reports grid was distorted when clicking on a cell.
  • Fixed a problem where some worklogs could not be copied in the Worklog Calendar. Also, we've added a feature where you can use the ALT button as a hotkey to copy Worklogs. Please note that you must have focus on the Worklog Calendar before copying or using the hotkey.

Tempo REST API - New Endpoints

The Tempo REST API endpoints for Timesheets Approvals have been published. Users can now access endpoints that allow them to:

  • Approve a timesheet
  • Reject a timesheet
  • Request a timesheet approval
  • List approvals for an approver
  • List users who have been granted approval permissions
  • Query the approval status of a timesheet

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • When logging work for a period in Tempo, requests to Jira are now sent serially in a single post to reduce stress on Jira infrastructure and ensure time spent on worklogs is correctly calculated.

  • When copying Jira custom fields that include more than one value to your Tempo database, the field values are now exported correctly using a <parent vlaue> -<child value> format.
  • The issue where you could not select the first day of the month after using the back-arrow on the date-picker calendar in Reports has been fixed.
  • Worklogs retain their start time and position in the My Work Calendar hourly view after submitting a timesheet for approval.

Tempo Timesheets - What's New?

  • The team field and role settings can now be configured under Configurations in the Tempo Teams section on the add-on administration page. Furthermore, the team field can now be made required. The Account Configuration page has been renamed and is now called Configuration in the Tempo Accounts section

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • Teams can now be deleted even if they are linked to boards that were previously deleted.
  • Fixed an error that was causing the Timesheet grid view not to load.
  • The period is now updated in the Tempo Team Timesheet Gadget when the user changes the period settings.
  • Team plans are now no longer shown within the Worklog Calendar.
  • The "Repeats on (weekly)" label has been changed to "Run scheduler on period end date". Additionally, the close date in the scheduler emails now shows the date the period is closed, instead of when the period ends.

Tempo Timesheets - What's New?

  • We've made changes to the Tempo settings. There's now a Developer Tools section with two subsections: OAuth 2.0 Applications and External Systems Token.
    • OAuth 2.0 Applications is an identity service that allows developers to get a client ID and authorization code using secure OAuth 2.0 authentication. Using the clients ID and authorization code, they can access and interact with Tempo data through the Tempo REST APIs.
    • External Systems Token replaces the section previously called Access Control. This allows designated Tempo administrators to use the Tempo Servlet API to retrieve information from an external system securely. It uses a Tempo security token to authenticate your credentials, and the external system's IP address to verify that the system is allowed to download Tempo data.

  • We are pleased to introduce a new Tempo date picker, redesigned for simpler navigation and interaction. New features include:
  • "Today" in the My work view is now based on the users client time (computer time) instead of the server time or the time from Jira's user profile settings. This was done to align with Tempo's timezone-agnostic worklog strategy.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • Fixed: The list of reviewers in the Create Plan dialog in Timesheets. The list of reviewers should now be only those users with Plan Time permission.
  • Fixed: User with Approve Timesheets permission can't change the Holiday scheme of a team member.

Tempo Timesheets - Improvements

  • Worklog validator now follows the User Profile time instead of server time when checking for number of days that users can log work into the future.
  • Worklog can be edited from the JIRA issue view by selecting the Edit Worklog action from the Action dropdown. This will open up the full worklog dialog and allow all properties to be edited.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • Moving worklogs to issues with a workflow property JIRA_PERMISSION_WORK_DENIED now fails during move, and fixes an issue where worklogs could be lost during the move operation.
  • Fixed a problem where some customers were receiving an error when updating billable hours in reports list view.
  • Fixed a problem where the View Timesheets option in Approvals directs users to the Current timesheet period instead of the Previous period.
  • Fixed a problem where users were unable to edit worklogs created before installing Tempo.
  • Fixed a problem where the week start day is not respected in the report view.

Tempo Accounts - Fixes

  • Special characters are now supported when exporting to .PDF.

Tempo Teams - Improvements

  • We have improved and simplified the breakdown of configuration settings for Teams and Accounts:
    • Merged Team Field and Roles under Configuration.
    • Changed Account Configuration to Configuration.
    • Configuration is now consistent between Account and Teams. Both now support "field required".

Tempo Teams - Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where you can't delete a team if a project is deleted before unlinking it.
  • Fixed a problem where filtering members in Teams on Tempo Cloud displaying the wrong results.

Tempo Timesheets - New Feature

  • Tempo administration has been renamed to Tempo settings is now visible to all users.
    • A User Preferences section has been added to the settings.
    • Settings requiring administrator permission cannot be viewed by users.
  • Tempo API user authentication is now available. Users can generate a token by selecting Tempo settings and then selecting API Integration. This allows users to create custom integrations based on the data they have access to.  
  • Administrators can select which Jira custom field data to copy to Tempo's database. That data can be used for further data processing and is included in your Tempo reports. The custom fields are ordered by ID and are added immediately after the fixed columns in the export.

Tempo Timesheets - Improvements

  • You can now export report data in .xlsx format.
  • When you export data to Excel or CSV formats, the filenames now reflect the content: the filename includes the saved report name and the dates for the report period.
  • When you select unlimited as the "Max hours per user per day" the amount is no longer capped at 99 hours.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • Fixed a problem when exporting to Excel from the getWorklog servlet was not giving worklog details, but rather issue details. The user can now choose to show or hide the issue and worklog details by using the flag parameters addIssueDetails and addWorklogDetails respectively.

  • Fixed a problem where in the Log Work form where the account work attribute is displayed as empty on the worklog after account is closed.
  • Fixed a problem where the reviewer list doesn't support more than 29 users or approvers.

  • Fixed a problem where gadgets may display a weird behaviour when displaying too much data.
  • Fixed a problem where in Calendar View the last plan is cut off and not completely displayed if there is a large number of Worklogs or Plans.

Tempo Timesheets - Improvements

  • Reports can be now be printed from the Reports Export menu. You can print in List or Grid view. In Grid view, it is optimized for one month of time in landscape-orientation. Printing is supported in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome. Printing for larger periods - depending on differences in the browsers print implementation - can cause data to be cut off the page.
  • The worklog panel within the Jira issue view has been replaced with a tabbed view where user can switch between Worklogs and History. The history tab replaces Jira's own history tab and reports issue worklog history.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • Fixed a problem where users cannot select a Reviewer other than their Team Lead from Team > Approvals when submitting timesheet.
  • Fixed a problem where the project colours from Jira were not working in MyWork on Tempo Cloud.
  • Fixed a problem where only 50 internal issues are displayed on the Internal issue page.
  • Fixed a problem where billable time resets to the same as the worked time when editing existing worklogs.
  • Fixed a problem where the issue picker could not find certain issues with single-digit issue keys in the Worklog dialog box.

  • You can now save your custom Tempo reports and quickly access them from the My Library section of the Reports overview page for quick reference and reuse.
  • You can now switch between grid and list view on the Reports overview page. In addition, you can sort reports by Name, Date created or last viewed, and display them in ascending or descending order.

Tempo Gadgets - Improvements

  • Users can now navigate directly from the Tempo Total Hours gadget and the Tempo Accounts by Customer gadget into the relevant Tempo reports.

Tempo Timesheets - Fixes

  • Fixed problem where worklogs are missing in Tempo Reports and the API, but then appear when the issue is viewed.
  • Fixed problem when opening an Issue Report from the JIRA issue view, it is not grouped by worklogs.
  • Fixed a problem where logging work on an internal issue leads to an error in the remaining estimate.
  • Fixed a problem where the account lead field shows as editable for the account lead, even if the user has no current Account Administration permissions.

  • Exported Excel reports now include a new Users tab that shows how hours are distributed between users and days. This tab is automatically included in every new export to Excel.
  • Users can no longer search Tempo Accounts across all Jira projects. Tempo Accounts are now filtered by the Jira Projects they are linked to in the Accounts overview page. Link Jira projects directly when creating new Tempo Accounts.

  • Fixed a problem where emails are not being sent to a user when their Planned time is Approved or Rejected.
  • Fixed a problem where logging work for a period does not respect the existing Tempo Logging Work Configuration.

Tempo Timesheets - Improvements

  • The Log work dialog has been improved in response to user feedback and redesigned to enhance the user experience:
    • Start and end time for worklogs are now displayed as separate fields and by default display the current time giving you more flexibility to log work quickly. Enter hours worked, or set the end time to automatically calculate the duration of the worklog. 
    • A Tempo administrator can configure if start and end time fields are displayed in the Log work dialog. If disabled, worklogs are saved with a timestamp of 00:00. This applies to all views except for when you enable the Time view in the My Work Calendar view, where start and end times are always enabled.
    • Currently, the new form is displayed in all views except for the My Work calendar view, which is still work in progress and will be updated to use the new form in the coming weeks.
  •  Restyled Tempo Sidebar for improved user experience (not to mention, it looks great!)
    • Refreshed icon designs and light-colored background make it easier to identify what you are choosing at a glance.
    • Slim profile with icon tooltips ensures that you have maximum working space and you do not disrupt your workflow to expand the sidebar

Tempo Timesheets - New Features 

  • We are proud to announce the release of Tempo for Chrome!
    • You can find Tempo for Chrome under the apps icon Screen_Shot_2017-07-31_at_11.47.29_AM.png or Tempo > Apps on the top menu. Please see Setting up Tempo for Chrome for instructions on how to install the extension, and then start logging work in Chrome
    • Now you can track progress on your JIRA issues in real-time directly from the Tempo tracker bar pinned to the bottom-right of your Chrome browser.
    • Trackers in Chrome work similarly to those available from the issue view, but since the tracker is a Chrome extension it remains visible at the bottom right of your browser at all times.
    • You can easily navigate between JIRA views and track work on ongoing issues without spending extra time searching for them.

Tempo Planner - New Features 

  • Users can now create plans directly from the Issue View by clicking the Plan time button in the Plans panel.
  • Users can now have their plans approved by selecting a Plan Approver in My Work or within the issue view. Here is how it works:
    • The plan approver can be selected from anyone who has the Plan Time permissions for that team (except the person you are planning time for, of course). Selecting a plan approver will send a notification to the plan approver.
    • After the user selects a plan approver, that person can either Accept or Reject the plan. Accepting or Rejecting a plan will send a notification to the user.
    • If they wish, the user or the plan approver can change the plan approver to another person with the Plan Time permissions for that team. Changing the plan approver will send a notification to both the plan approver and the user.
    • Tempo Administrators can select whether to enable or disable Plan Approvals in the Tempo Administration menu.

Tempo Timesheets - New Features 

  • An approver who is logging, editing, or deleting a worklog for a member will now need the Approve Timesheets permission if the period has been closed for that member.
  • Reports are now sorted alphabetically by Project Key, Issue Key, Account Key, or User Key, depending on the grouping level selected. Worklogs are sorted by Work date and use the Last updated field as a tie-breaker between similar dates. For more information about reports, please review the article Using the reports feature.

  • If a team member needs more time to complete a timesheet, you can add now a grace period to any timesheet that is open or is waiting for approval. The team member can then add Worklogs from the time the grace period is granted, for the number of hours specified. Tempo Timesheets - New Features

  • It's possible to configure globally how far into the future it's possible to register worklogs. The default setting is 90 days. Other options range from 0-360 days. If 0 is selected it means that the user cannot log work for tomorrow.

Tempo Timesheets - Improvements

  • Tempo administrators can now make the remaining estimate field as optional. The setting is configured globally for the instance. As default, the remaining estimate is required. The remaining estimate cannot be a negative number, but if it has reached 0, the user can add a new one.
  • Tempo administrator can now configure if the worklog description is optional. The setting is global for the instance. By default the worklog description is required. When worklog description is optional and the description field is left empty the worklog is saved with the description 'Working on issue $key'. If the user writes a description the default description is not saved.
  • Tempo administrators can now configure the how many hours a user can log work on issue per day.
  • Maximum length of worklogs has been removed such that there's no limit to worklog lenght, except for the database limit (~14 digits).

Tempo Timesheets - New Features

  • Tempo administration pages are now accessible through the Tempo sidebar. Tempo administration is now displayed within Tempo and have been removed from the JIRA administration.
  • Only users with Tempo administrators permission can perform administrative tasks in Tempo. Previously JIRA admins were able to perform some of the tasks, but that ability has been moved completely to the Tempo administrators permission. On install, JIRA administrators must grant themselves this permission.
  • Users with Tempo administrators permission can access the Tempo administration pages through the Tempo top menu.
  • Tempo administrators can now configure the how many hours a user can log work on issue per day.
  • Global settings for worklogs are now accessible under Tempo administration > Configuration section > Logging work.

Tempo Timesheets - Improvements

  • Users can now create trackers in the JIRA Boards sidebar.
  • To create new trackers users click the '+' icon at the top of the tracker section. This applies to all places where users can create trackers, i.e. JIRA Boards sidebar, JIRA Issue view and Tempo Trackers gadget
  • To log work through the JIRA Boards sidebar users can click the '+' icon of the worklogs section, or through 'Log work' in issue actions at the top of the sidebar.

  • A bug related to users with changed usernames not being able to access 'My work' and other time tracking capabilities
